Vietnam Welcomes Thousands of Foreign Visitors on New Year’s Day
As the year 2025 begins, Vietnam has rolled out celebratory activities across various localities to warmly welcome first tourists, setting a positive tone for the new year.
In Da Nang, nearly 3,000 visitors arrived at the start of the year, including almost 2,000 European and American tourists who disembarked from the Noordam cruise ship. City officials greeted them with flowers, gifts, and vouchers, along with a lively traditional lion dance and plenty of photo opportunities.
Hue also welcomed over 100 passengers from Vietnam Airlines flight VN6317 that landed at Phu Bai International Airport at 9:15 a.m. Four lucky visitors received round-trip domestic tickets, courtesy of Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines, along with souvenirs from the tourism department.
The guests were treated to artistic performances and New Year’s gifts from city officials, marking the kick-off of Hue Festival 2025. This event also began a year-long celebration of Hue’s new status as a centrally run city and the “Visit Vietnam Year – Hue 2025”.
In Quang Nam province, Hoi An Ancient Town welcomed its first tourists of the year, where Chairman Le Van Dung presented gifts and best wishes to a group of 18 tourists from Italy. The visitors enjoyed delving into the town’s rich history and participated in various cultural and artistic activities, even trying their hands at local crafts.
Meanwhile, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Tourism hosted a special welcome ceremony for the first international tourists of the year. Guests were treated to an array of traditional Vietnamese activities, including musical performances with folk instruments, tea ceremonies, calligraphy demonstrations, and thoughtful gifts from the organizers.
