Sa Dec to first celebrate The Ornamental Flower & Plant Festival 2024

Famously known as the home of ornamental flowers, the Sa Dec Ornamental Flower & Plant Festival 2024 takes place from 30th December 2023 – 5th January 2024. This is the first time that Dong Thap Province held such a seasonal perspective to another level, as it aims to boost tourism and mobilize households in the flower village area to arrange flower trellises and pots to create accents and beauty. 

Lauded as one of the southern region’s most prolific flower cities, Sa Dec is home to more than 2,000 types of flowers, supplying over 12 million flowery products to the Vietnamese market each year. Thousands of people have joined the festival and are enchanted by the colorful field of signature plant species, whereas this is an ideal place to go flower shopping for the Tet Holiday.

With the theme “Love of Earth – Love of Flowers”, Sa Dec Ornamental Flower & Plants Festival 2024 exhibits domestic and international ornamental flower products and OCOP products of districts and cities in Dong Thap province. Within the framework of the event, there are activities to honor the Sa Dec flower and ornamental growers, connect and trade flower and ornamental products; and Workshops on improving the value chain of the flower and ornamental goods industry.

In addition, the locality organizes contests: flower fashion, beautiful photos, learning the history of the formation of flower village, Sa Dec ornamentation, cuisine, decorating flower gates, flower streets, and beautiful office flower gardens.

To prepare for the event, Sa Dec City People’s Committee also launched the program “Homes grow flowers, everyone grows flowers”, calling on every local person to plant flowers and decorative ornaments in front of their houses, balconies, in the garden, and the alleys to celebrate the festival spirit. At the same time, the city also ordered farmers to plant more than 206,000 flower baskets of all kinds to serve as decoration during the Festival.

Apart from admiring the beautiful flower arrangements, you can also immerse in the festive atmosphere by joining exciting art performances. You must not miss out on taking pictures in Sa Dec Square, which is filled with various miniatures in a field of flowers.

Some of the other significant features of the Southern area are fruit gardens. Wandering in mandarin orange gardens and feeling the freshness of the countryside is a great way to blend in the festive occasion.
