A group of 100 Polish tourists arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) 10 days before Tet holiday in Vietnam, to experience its vibrant and festive atmosphere firsthand.

On Monday, the group gathered at a local restaurant to enjoy Tet specialties such as banh chung and banh tet (Vietnamese sticky rice cakes), braised pork, and pickled onions, while also learning about the country’s traditional customs. The Polish visitors also embraced the tradition of giving and receiving lucky money in red envelopes, known as “li xi” in Vietnamese. Ana Sanchez, 40, commented: “I love the red envelopes. This small gift makes Vietnamese Tet feel truly special and meaningful”.

According to Tran The Dung, general director of Vietluxtour, the Polish group is on a 15-day itinerary covering Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Their time in Vietnam includes celebrating the early Tet atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City, exploring the Mekong Delta, and visiting Phan Thiet.

Dung explained that Polish tourists often travel to Vietnam between October and December. Most trips last 8 to 12 days and include visits to all three regions of Vietnam, as well as neighboring destinations in Indochina. Polish visitors generally prefer accommodations rated three stars or higher, with a focus on cultural immersion and comfort.

Poland has become an increasingly important market for Vietnam’s tourism industry. To boost visitor numbers, Vietnamese authorities have announced visa exemptions for Polish citizens traveling for organized tours. From March 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, Polish visitors can stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days without a visa, making it more convenient to explore the country.

With tailored tours, cultural experiences, and an emphasis on Vietnam’s vibrant Tet traditions, the country continues to position itself as an attractive destination for international tourists, including those from Poland.
