Phu Quoc Rises as an Ideal MICE Destination Due to The Visa-free Policy
Phu Quoc is emerging as a new MICE tourism destination, thanks to its excellent visa policy, world-class infrastructure, and numerous entertainment options.
MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourists make up an estimated 15-20% of total visitors in Vietnam, with big travel agencies accounting for up to 60% during peak seasons.
While Vietnam’s MICE business has encountered hurdles due to infrastructure constraints, Phu Quoc Island is currently emerging as a MICE paradise, satisfying all of the criteria for being an attractive destination for conferences and large events.
Visa-free Policy
Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s only destination with a unique Visa exemption for international travelers. Foreign visitors and Vietnamese citizens holding foreign passports are permitted to access Phu Quoc without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.
Furthermore, travelers from 13 countries, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan, are granted a unilateral visa exemption for up to 45 days, regardless of passport type or purpose of visit.

This regulation simplifies MICE group procedures, allowing large delegations to enter seamlessly. The visa exemption has also increased international connection, with direct flights to Phu Quoc from countries such as South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. Other countries are considering establishing direct links to the island as well.
Luxury Resorts and Beaches
Phu Quoc is home to some of the world’s most stunning beaches, notably Kem Beach and Sao Beach, which have fine white sand and crystal clear waters.
The island’s natural beauty, paired with luxury resorts on beaches, makes it a perfect location for MICE events.
Resorts that cater to MICE groups include JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, New World Phu Quoc, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, and Premier Village Phu Quoc. These resorts also make an excellent environment for team-building activities and outdoor gatherings.
State-of-the-Art Conference Facilities
Phu Quoc’s resorts include large conference rooms and halls that can accommodate a variety of event types.
One standout is the Sun Signature Gallery, constructed by famous architect Bill Bensley and located in Sunset Town. This facility, which also serves as a museum showcasing Bensley’s works, has a big ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 people.
The ballroom is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, including an intelligent lighting system and high-quality sound equipment, making it perfect for holding professional events and artistic performances.
In October, the Sun Paradise Land complex will open the Sun Convention Center in Kem Beach, a new facility managed by New World with a capacity of 1,000 guests, bolstering Phu Quoc’s status as a major MICE destination.
