Phu Quoc earns recognition as one of the World’s Top Islands
In the latest issue of October 2023, Condé Nast Traveler presented the 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, and Phu Quoc once again earned a spot among the “Top Islands” of the World’s Best selection. This prestigious award is the longest-running and receives the best recognition of excellence in the travel industry. Once again, this shows great potential for Vietnam’s Tourism in general and specifically for Phu Quoc to gain more attention among the world’s best destinations.
The awards group islands according to continents like Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and North America. Based on reviews from readers around the world and advice from travel professionals, rankings were formed. Established on Reader’s votes, the scores are percentages representing overall average levels of satisfaction.
Overtaking the Philippines’ Siargao and Japan’s Okinawa & and Ryuku islands, Phu Quoc took eighth place in the Asian island rankings. Mentionably, the year’s winner is Bali, the Island of the Gods which combines surfing, spirituality, and sybaritic splendor.
The attractiveness of Phu Quoc is due to its unspoiled beaches, pleasant climate, and a wide range of lodging alternatives, from inexpensive to deluxe. The island also provides a wide variety of experiences, such as safari excursions and contemporary amusement parks.
Visitors looking for genuine local experiences can visit pepper and pearl farms, Phu Quoc National Park, or the fishing village of Ham Ninh.
The cuisine of Phu Quoc is especially noteworthy, with specialties like “bun quay”, or stir-fried noodles with fish sauce leaving a wonderful impression on travelers.
This specialty “Bun quay” will be served with a noodle broth soup with a cup of dipping sauce mixed from soup powder, sugar, ground chili, MSG, lemon… To make a delicious cup of dipping sauce, you have to stir quickly. When the spices dissolve, the sauce thickens and the attractive red color is “standard”. Enjoying mixed vermicelli is also very different. Diners will have to prepare their own bowl of dipping sauce to best suit their taste.
