Luang Prabang is a famous tourist destination for both domestic and foreign tourists, with many diverse natural, historical, and cultural attractions. The ancient capital is located in the north, on a peninsula formed by the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Mountain ranges, especially Phou Thao and Phou Nang, surround the town, giving Luang Prabang a cool green color. In December 1994, this place was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In May, American travel magazine CnTraveller included this place in the list of the 50 most beautiful small towns in the world in 2023.

Many temples are decorated with sculptures, carvings, paintings, and gilding. Xieng Thong Pagoda, dating from the 16th century, has the most complex design among the pagodas here.
Tourists coming here are attracted by the quiet atmosphere and friendliness of the people. The ancient capital is also famous for textile products suitable for buying as gifts. One of the most popular experiences when visiting the town is observing the Tak Bat Morning Alms Giving Ceremony.
To prepare for Tourism Laos Year 2024, the provincial government is advancing tourism promotion through many media, improving tourism resources, and creating favorable conditions to attract more foreign tourists. In addition, the slogan “Travel safely, enjoy culture, history, and nature” and activities for the National Tourism Year 2024 is being prepared for the upcoming November opening. Accordingly, the event will have products in cultural, historical, and natural tourism, bearing the mark of the Land of a Million Elephants.
