Hue – The Rising Regional Tourism Hub
With Hue’s goal to become a cultural, tourism, and healthcare center of Southeast Asia by 2030, there is still a lot to be done to diversify tourism outgrowths and improve customer experiences in the meantime.
The People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has just issued a decision (No. 678/QD-UBND) with the approved plan Project “Hue – Capital of Ao Dai” by 2025. Concentrate on promoting the cultural beauty of Áo dài Huế, and celebrate the establishers and developers of this national quintessence in its long time of formation and evolution.
According to the Project, the specific goal is by 2025: Forming a database and images of Hue’s Ao Dai through the ages; Periodically organizing Hue Community Ao Dai Week to become an important highlight in Hue Festivals; building a communication ministry about the project; creating and managing the brand “Hue – Ao Dai Capital”; forming a tourism product associated with this significant feature.

By 2030: Form a museum, and center for displaying, performing, and tailoring Ao Dai to serve tourists; Issue at least 01 policy to support the development of Hue Ao Dai; Complete the dossier on Ao Dai tailoring and the practice of using Hue traditional Ao Dai to submit to UNESCO for consideration and registration as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The province’s tourism ministry reported that Hue had attracted millions of foreign tourists after the course of COVID-19. Yet the standard duration of stay has lowered, requiring the region and Hue alone to engage more versatile products and services to meet visitors’ demands.
Hue is mostly known because of its UNESCO-recognized sites with 7 history and cultural monuments. As tourism has been a main source of income for people and a joint effort involving local authorities, and investors, Hue should be more focused on developing and implementing programmes to further promote this sector.
