HCM City Hosts Weekly Fireworks And Drone Show To Celebrate The 50th Reunification
Visiting Vietnam for the 50th Reunification Day? You’re in for a rare treat! Ho Chi Minh City’s spectacular fireworks and record-breaking drone show will light up the sky in celebration of this historic milestone. To ensure you don’t miss out, here are some must-see moments to mark on your calendar.
FIREWORKS DISPLAYS FOR 5 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS AT 7 LOCATIONS
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) and President Ho Chi Minh’s 135th birthday (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has proposed 15-minute fireworks displays at the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City every Saturday evening for five consecutive weeks, from April 19 to May 31, 2025. The fireworks will take place from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM.
In addition to the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City, HCM City plans to hold fireworks displays at six other locations, including:
- Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial (Cu Chi District)
- Nga Ba Giong Martyrs Memorial (Hoc Mon District)
- Lang Le – Bau Co Historic Site (Binh Chanh District)
- Can Gio District Football Stadium
- National History and Culture Park
- Dam Sen Cultural Park

VIETNAM’S BIGGEST DRONE SHOW: 10,500 DRONES IN ACTION
On the evening of April 30, a drone show will take place, featuring 10,500 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) creating symbolic images and meaningful visuals that represent Ho Chi Minh City’s progress over the past 50 years. This event is expected to set a Vietnamese record for the highest number of drones in the air simultaneously. The show will be held over the Saigon River, illuminating both banks in Thu Duc City and District 1.

SERIES OF CULTURAL AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Furthermore, a variety of meaningful cultural and sports activities will also be organized. The series of events will take place every Saturday evening on April 19th, April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th, and May 17th.
Activities will include music performances, street music shows, river parade of cruise ships, flyboard demonstrations, etc. These events will be held at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, Bach Dang Wharf, the Saigon River, and Thu Duc Riverfront Park.
On April 29 and April 30, Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and the Bach Dang Wharf area along the Saigon River will host a variety of artistic performances, including circus acts, magic shows, classical Vietnamese opera (hat boi), martial arts demonstrations, and brass band performances.

Furthermore, the Ho Chi Minh City Command has been promoting the involvement of districts, businesses, and organizations throughout the city in initiatives aimed at establishing additional locations for fireworks displays, thereby enhancing the festive ambiance across the city.
As outlined in the proposal from the Department of Culture and Sports, Ho Chi Minh City intends to organize a variety of activities, including a photography street, the 2025 Olympic Run for All People’s Health, synchronized gymnastics performances, a 3D Mapping art program named “50 Years Journey – Heritage and Future,” as well as exhibitions of ceremonial and parade vehicles, among other events.
