Celebrating the 10th anniversary of UNESCO honoring The Enchanted Art of Don Ca Tai Tu
UNESCO recognized the enchanted art form Don Ca Tai Tu as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity on 5/12/2013. This has shown a great recognition of such a marvelous art form and grasped the attention of a wide range of the world. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the title and brings enjoyment to this celebration. Google Doodle also tributes this day to highlight the event and states that this form of art connects the community through sharing culture, art, and music for future generations.
Formed at the end of the 19th century, it originated from rituals and Hue’s royal musical performances. Don ca Tai tu is a harmony of instruments to form beautiful melodies and is generally known in the South of Vietnam. To prevent and develop the art form from being recognized as an intangible cultural heritage in the future, the Culture & Sports Department will have to cooperate with other administrations to promote activities and educational practices to enhance people’s awareness about Don Ca Tai Tu. Especially draws the attention towards the responsibility of the young generation regarding this matter, regardless of any form of art. Disputedly, providing conditions in social practices, and teaching Southern Don Ca Tai Tu at public schools, clubs, and residential hubs… to enhance cultural lifestyle and ensure mindful improvements in the community.
During 10 years of implementing the work of preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of the Southern Don Ca Tai Tu, Bac Lieu (the home of this artform) has carried out more than 1,500 propaganda sessions on preserving and promoting its heritage value.
The enchanted art of Don Ca Tai Tu attracted more than 100,000 attendees; and released over 500 publications serving research and learning about the Art of Don Ca amateurs. Along with that, the province organized 27 classes on the Art of Don Ca Tai Tu in the area, attracting more than 2,500 participants.
