Mekong Colors: Ho Chi Minh – Dong Thap – Can Tho

Our private car and tour guide warmly welcome and pick you up at the meeting point. Start the journey by discovering the colorful Mekong Delta, heading to Dong Thap. Have breakfast at the restaurant.

• Depart to My Tho city. On the way, stop by to visit the ancient pagoda more than 100 years old – Vinh Trang pagoda, the largest Buddhist temple of the province.
• Arrive at the boat wharf and then embark on the boat to continue the journey along the banks of the Mekong River.
• Admire the beauty of four islets named by the four mythical creatures: Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle and Phoenix.
• Stop at Unicorn Islet to visit crocodile farm, honey farms and enjoy glasses of honey tea. You will also visit coconut candy village, experience making coconut candy by hand.

Have lunch at the local restaurant. Continue the journey:

• Try on a ‘xe loi’, a one-of-a-kind vehicle in Ben Tre, and observe locals in their everyday lives during the journey.
• Walk to the sampan boarding area. Be ready for a short yet delightful 5-7-minute expedition under the cool shades of water coconut trees.

When the tour finishes, get off the sampan and the car will pick you up to depart to Can Tho province. Upon arrival, check-in your hotel and rest.

Have dinner at the restaurant. The night is yours to enjoy – perhaps a leisurely stroll around Ninh Kieu Wharf, a visit to the night market, or a relaxing massage (personal expenses). Overnight in Can Tho.

Start your day at around 6:00 AM to visit the famous Cai Rang Floating Market. The market is most vibrant in the early hours of the morning. Witness the hustle and bustle of boats selling fruits, vegetables, and various local products. 

• Visit a Rice Noodle Factory. Here, you can witness the traditional process of making rice noodles.

Return to the hotel for breakfast. After that, continue the journey:

• Continue with a visit to Truc Lam Zen Monastery. This monastery offers a serene atmosphere ideal for meditation and reflection, providing you with insight into Vietnam’s Buddhist heritage.
• Leaving Can Tho for Soc Trang province. Upon arrival, visit Som Rong Pagoda, an impressive Khmer Buddhist temple blending spiritual calm and striking architecture.

Have lunch at the local restaurant.

• Visit Mahatup Pagoda, better known as Bat Pagoda. Built more than 4 centuries ago, the pagoda is surrounded by towering trees that serve as home to thousands of fruit bats hanging quietly in the branches. Despite their size, these bats never disturb the sacred atmosphere of the temple.
• Stop at Tan Hue Vien factory, famous for its traditional “bánh pía” where you can watch the making process and shop for local specialties of Soc Trang.

Have dinner at the restaurant. Free at leisure for the evening. Overnight in Can Tho.

Have breakfast and check-out the hotel. Enjoy some free time for last-minute shopping.

• This morning, we visit the Spirulina Farm, a unique project combining agriculture, health, and sustainability (Address: Long Hung Commune, Can Tho City).
• Here, you will join a presentation about spirulina, its nutritional values, and its ecological importance. Walk around the culture ponds, learn about the cultivation and harvesting process, and discover how the farm works with both local and international partners to promote sustainable agriculture and solidarity tourism.

Have lunch at the local restaurant. Afterwards, continue the drive to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving in the evening. The tour ends here with warm goodbyes and a promise to meet again.
